There is SO much parenting advice out there about every topic imaginable and conflicting opinions on every method under the sun. If you can find one specialist that says you MUST do things this way, you are certain to find an expert who claims the exact opposite.
The best parenting “advice” I ever heard was from Brené Brown. Summarized: in order to be the best parent you can be, focus on being the best person you can be. I feel like I don’t need any other parenting advice than that. Simple. Profound. And difficult.
Your kids watch what you do, they see your character, observe your values, witness how you treat others, feel how you treat them…all these things build a picture to them of who they should become, who they want to become, who they will become. What you say to them matters but it is what you are communicating to them non-verbally and emotionally that really counts and will stick with them for life.
Tell me, does this advice resonate with you? What’s the best parenting advice you’ve ever received?
I am not a parent, but I think this totally resonates with anyone… lead by being what you want to see in others. Beautiful message and such fun images!
Right!? So applicable to anyone.
Totally resonates with me. Love this session. So authentic ❤❤
Thanks Bianca!
Man, that is so true. I’ve honestly never thought about it like that, but have always seen how much my daughter feels from how I react.
So simple but so profound, right?
Seriously profound. Be the example. Love this!
Be the example. That’s a great way of putting it! So simple but so profound <3
Definitely wonderful advice! Such important words to remember and I love the accompanying photographs! A beautiful snapshot of childhood. Love both your words and photographs!
Thank you so much Lindsay!! I appreciate it!
I’m not a parent but I will remember this for when I am! These photos are literal gold <3
Aw, thanks Sarah! I feel like this applies to parenthood but also just in general – and for anyone who may be looking up to you!
I agree 100% whole heartedly. And being the best parent you can be will be a whole different version to someone else. Focus on you and what makes you happy and others will follow.
Yes yes yes! So true. I love that the advice is so personal and adaptable.
I love the quote from Brenne Brown! I’m not a parent yet but that is great advice in one sentence. I love these photos!
