{The Theisens}
10.17.10

I am blessed to know the Theisens. The whole family is gifted in creativity and full of spunk.
They have such energy and passion for life. I grew up in a family of girls so I never experienced brothers.
There were no sword fights in our family, no homemade capes with batman wings, no hanging upside down on rope swings made of a stick,
no zooming down a slide on a sled and certainly no mohawks. We did have plenty of adventures of our own, but these Theisen boys make me wish I had brothers.
Luckily for me, they are always willing to invite others into the adventure. And today I got to join their adventure.

My absolute favorite thing about being a photographer is that I get to tell people's stories. and stories are the essence of life.
That's why I love these next two photos. They tell a story. What is the story? I'm not sure!
But I love that I can look at these two pictures for a long long time, trying to imagine what the story is...
what is he thinking... what is the emotion that he is experiencing that caused these expressions?

One day Jen found her old stool with freshly painted portraits on it! Each boy had painted their own self-portrait!
Seriously awesome. They get it from their mom. :)
I hope my some-day children feel the creative freedom to paint their portraits on a stool.

Where do you think the kids get their fiesty nature...

In keeping with the previous comment...this sword-chase fight-conquest was the parents' idea for a little front yard entertainment.

The car ride to the park...freshly grilled burgers included.
Gotta love those freckles!!

After climbing the tree, we discovered that the big red patch of bark was actually 100s of boxelder bugs.

This disturbed Jen.

Bob wanted to recreate their engagement photo. So sweet.

...and this sums up what is so great about autumn in Minnesota!

The boys were so stoked about this park, and come-on, who wouldn't be!

Beans.
An interesting name for a dog, with an interesting story...it came from a dream!
It seems to me that creative people often have creative dreams. :)
