{Ice Inspiration}
1.26.11
With temperatures rarely above 20 degrees F and often below 2 degrees F, it is a challenge for me,
or my camera, or my subjects to want to spend hours outside during the Minnesota winter.
Thus, we take the opportunity of winter to refocus our goals, to read and sit by the fireplace (or candles),
to go to museums and learn, to be inspired and challenged by friends, to catch up on blog posting and blog following.
Yet on occasion I do go against my better judgement to brave the elements and explore the ice
because there are so many great and beautiful mysteries about ice!
Like how the same lake that you can submerse yourself in during the summer
can withstand your body weight walking across it during the winter
(not to mention withstand a multitude of cars and ice houses and people).

Like the shapes and patterns of trapped bubbles and cracked ice.
It's like looking at a cloudy sky or stars at night...
you could stare at it for hours and constantly be discovering new details.

Like the fact that there are little fish swimming around deep beneath your feet.
Or frozen right next to your feet.
